What is the process we must go through after we have gone through the 5 Stages of The Awakening to become our highest and best self? My good friend and contributor on the Dont-Tread-On.Me blog spend some time delving deeply into this subject in this Silver Shield Report. This is not the most comfortable conversation, but one that I feel is tremendously important to start talking about. Be prepared for some deep thought and to question everything.

Here is an email exchange regarding the Report.
Hello Chris ,
How are you my friend?
Since you wanted some feedback I sent you a brief email. I also had a couple of questions
But let me first Thank You for having the courage to talk about religion.
I heard you say in the clip that ‘You can’t even call yourself Catholic anymore” because of things like the sexual abuse scandals and some of the experiences you may have had with your parents or other religious authorities insinuating that they are trying to control our thoughts and actions.
I just have these two pieces of feedback:
1) Those scandals do not reflect the teachings of the Catholic Church and many of the accusations may be false. Three friends of mine were alter boys in the late 80’s and in 2001 decided to make up stories about a priest that sexually abused them when they were kids . The Archdiocese settled out of court for 250,000 , 210,000 , and 125,000. My buddies thought it was a real clever scam and were laughing all the way to the bank.
I’m sure you already know there are bad apples in every field and it does not exclude priests , nuns , doctors , parents , police , etc. (Would you stop seeing doctors if you were sick if you heard of sexual abuse taking place? Would you stop calling police if there was an emergency if you heard of police brutality taking place somewhere?)
2) The experience you have had growing up as a Catholic may have been controlling , intimidating , and sometimes even fearful and those that delivered that message to you probably did not do so accurately and/or in the correct manner. Some not even qualified to even do so.
I don’t believe that someone should change or abandon Religion because of some of the bad people they have encountered or some of the emotional struggles they have with it.
I would also like to ask what Religion you are today? I heard you mention that your kids are going to a Greek Orthodox school. Are you now Greek Orthodox or is that just being in the same ‘Paradigm’ to you?
Thank You for your Time and I apologize if I am getting too personal , but I am very interested in you as an individual and assure you there will never be any discrimination from me towards you or your family no matter how you respond.
Thanks Again Chris!
Thank you for the vote of confidence.
It is a touchy subject and one that I do not speak from any authority.
I do not consider my self Catholic or any other formalized religion not simply because of the abuse scandal but because I do not believe any man or institution has a special insight into the unknowable.
The teachings of Jesus resonate with me more deeply than anything else and that I feel is closer to the truth of life, but who knows.
I am not abandoning my spiritual connection only seeking it outside any man made dogma designed to control me.
Yet I am sending my children into a Catholic school…
I appreciate you writing about this in a sensitive way.
Thanks for the quick reply Chris.
I went to a Catholic school as well and feel very fortunate that I did. I was the biggest trouble maker all 9 years there except for one . This kid in 5th grade ‘Richard’ beat me that year haha. But anyway , I never felt controlled my whole time there . You know why? because they couldn’t , I did what I wanted even as a kid because it is impossible for any Priest , teacher , or parent to monitor me 24/7. Sure there were rules , there always has to be some set of rules.
I lost all touch with God after high school and throughout my twenties because “it was party time” and lived pretty recklessly until about the age of 28 and I am lucky I am still in one piece today. EVERY aspect of my life has improved since.
I re-connected with Jesus and his teachings and adjusted some of my thoughts and actions ,not because someone told me to, or they thought that’s what I should do ,but because my life was spiraling downward and making no progress as a human being at all, so I had to dig deep into my roots.
I started going back to Church a few years ago and I still don’t think they can control me or my thoughts . They simply can’t.
I don’t even think “they”(Catholic Authorities) have any genuine interest to do so. I mean do you really think they set the whole thing up to try and brainwash us so that the head Pastor can have a brand new Cadillac and go on exotic vacations to the Bahamas? Other than money (or ego I guess) I do not see why they would heavily concern themselves with what we do in our personal lives. Some may call it “control” I like to call it free knowledge and guidance . I am the only one who controls the actions.
Jesus started the first Catholic church (it is not a man-made institution) and sure ‘man’ made some changes but that should not be ones focus. The focus should be ” I believe in Jesus and what he says and I will go to church to praise Him and listen to His words.”
This may be “unprovable” but that’s where faith comes in. Just like when we don’t believe in ourselves sometimes. When people ask me “what makes you so happy all the time?” I simply say “Faith in God and Faith in myself.” That is really all you need.
I am usually uncomfortable talking about Religion and rarely do for probably the same reasons as you, but I see that you are very receptive and that kind of open-mindedness is what makes you 1-of-a-kind and is truly appreciated on my end. In return, I hope I can demonstrate that same kind of receptiveness towards you that you have towards others.
Once Again Thank You for your Time.
“PEACE AND LOVE TO ALL AND TO ALL A GOODNIGHT!”
Merry Christmas. We had a great morning with just the kids.
You are a true rebel. Most kids and adults never realize the fact that no CAN control you, ever. (Unless you are in a prison, even then you can mentally check out.)
I realized this very early that my interests and will to accomplish those interests over ride anyone else’s ability to stop me.
Having kids allowed me to become more intro spectate and ask the why and not how as much. I realize that the highest for of freedom is spiritual freedom and is one that I am sure I will keep moving towards.
One thing that is a non starter is any particular religion and certainly not any centralized approach.
I feel that the Catholic church like most other organizations has a mass of people operating it in the best of intentions, just like the military. But like any centralized power the more “ambitions” and cunning naturally rise to the top as they seek greater power.
It is not that power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely…
It is the corrupt that seek power.
The truly holy man does not seek authority or power and realizes that they cannot and should not change others around them.
Jesus’s ministry was not a formalized church with rituals and power structures and yet that is what the churches of the world do.
The Catholic Church like all other religions have lost power and no longer have or seek to control people like they did in the past. I feel it is from them overstepping their power and people simply checked out and realized that they are fine without them. The next “religion” to go through this is the secular religion of government, science, corporations, and militaries.
The whole point of the conversation was to get ahead of the curve and see what is next in human consciousness, after this belief system collapses.
Do you mind if I add this exchange to the members only post?
Hey there Chris.
Thank You once again for the reply , especially on a busy day like Christmas. I hope you and your family enjoyed yourselves.
I don’t quite understand what you mean by Churches losing power , they are definitely losing people if that is what you mean. (It’s simply a matter of choice for individuals .) I feel like society as a whole is losing their morals and values altogether. I can’t speak for other countries but it is happening here and it’s breaking my heart.
I’m not sure if it’s media, economic pressures, federal laws regarding marriage and your children, new drugs , the list goes on. One thing for certain though , society is changing big time. You gave very good examples in some of your modules.
And yes people are losing their religion which leads to the abandonment of values and morals. Everyone is looking for convenience nowadays and humans are very good at convincing themselves that this or that is ok . We look to justify bad behaviors, thoughts and habits . Maybe we did get too spoiled as a nation , I don’t know . I can’t really put my finger on it and where we started regressing.
We are about the same age and I’m sure you remember being a young kid in the 80’s and how things were then. It was not too long ago and it seems to me then and now are worlds apart.
My parents are 73(Mom) and 79(Dad) (married 56 years) I have 2 brothers ages 54 and 52 and 1 sister who is 55 . They came to America from Europe in 1965. I was born here and they all share great stories with me . My brothers and sister tell me about the 70’s and my parents tell me about their old traditions.
Anyway , I thought I would give a little background on myself and how I feel about some of these issues . When I watched your modules there was a lot I agreed with but never was able to express “My thoughts and feelings of the world today” like you. But thanks to a lot of your material I am able to have more clarity to what is going on around me. I will be forever thankful.
As to your question about sharing our conversations with all the members , please do.
Talk to you later my friend.
The major churches have fewer and fewer people and parishes.
The only ones growing are the feel good ones like Joel Osteen.
When the Catholic church support UFO’s and Global Central Banks they have lost their way.
People are looking for a more selfish justifications and are either abandoning churches or grasping on to The Secret.
I am only 37 and came into the church after Vatican II It was a feeble attempt to meet the times.
I feel that another consciousness is coming as we mature in our development.
After times of great loss societies become very religious in search of understanding what evil has happened to them.
What is religion than a way to explain suffering?
This time instead of saying we should turn the other cheek we should point the finger at the psychopaths that have created the evil and say enough.
I say this over and over again ‘ There are only two kinds of people in the world; those that want to be left alone and those that won’t leave you alone.’ Instead of letting these men go to ruin the next generation we can stop and say wow look at all of the damage that has happened, this is how they did it and we will shun those that created this mess and reject the consciousness that enabled it.
My hope is that efforts like TGTNT and SOLA give people the background and encouragement to step up and end this way of life.
I may not have the answers but I will keep asking the questions.
