Anger Phase Self Defense #6

If  the teachers in Connecticut either had guns or knew what I teach, I have no doubt that this tragedy would not have happened.  Comments are welcome.  Coach David

Objective analysis reveals that such attacks can not be stopped in totality, but only minimized. It is exclusively in this realization that any practical solution can be found. Being TIME is THE critical factor in this regard, the only obvious solution is an armed group perpetually on site PRIOR to an incident.

For the ‘gunaphobikz’, no degree of reason or rationalization can suffice, but nevertheless it can be logically stated that if you can’t trust the individuals with firearms, already entrusted with the care and safety of your children (with all the other means readily available to cause harm or death), then they most definitely shouldn’t be there in the first instance.×187.png

    • I agree. The prevention is for a shooter to not be tempted to go into that situation in the first place. How come there are no spree killings at gun ranges or NRA conventions? Just a thought. The school was proudly advertised as a “Gun Free Zone” (just like the movie theater in Colorado and the Virginia Tech campus) which means to me “Come and attack because we have no way to defend ourselves zone”. Thanks for the comment. Coach David

I found this video very helpful. It describes how to defend yourself in a active shooter senario.

Good video’s Coach David! We learn some of the same techniques in our weaponless defense classes. Been a police officer now for 25 years. The only thing I would add is that mental preparation for a violent encounter is just as or more important than the physical techniques. Rehearsing scenarios in your mind, understanding the effects of adrenaline on the body and nervous system, breath control, etc. will help your students survive a violent situation. Your mind is your most powerful weapon and thinking ahead will keep them out of dangerous situations before they even start.
