    I am expecting a full-scale war with draft, propaganda posters, curfews, witch hunts, concentration camps, kid labor – the works.

    Things that can’t last forever, won’t – no arguing about that. But parasites cannot become value producers: they lack physiology and creativity. They rely on the script they have been using for thousands of years, and the script says that war is the final solution to everything.

    Did you notice that neither top management nor their wealth seriously suffered in wars from the beginning of history until WWI? (WWI and after are different in that the real managers are people behind central banks, so generals, presidents and dictators are pawns.)

    @ Mustafa…

    “Did you notice that neither top management nor their wealth seriously suffered in wars from the beginning of history until WWI?”

    Say what? Sounds good but just not true. I can think of dozens of kings and the like who were beheaded and their kingdoms looted throughout history and I’m sure if you took a minute to think about it (or picked up a history book) you would too. I read your posts and I believe your heart is in the right place but sometimes you shoot your mouth off without much thought behind it. But there’s a lot of that on this web site.

    @Aurochs:

    You are 100% right. I am adamant that ANY statement can be proven, but research is boring (the epitaph of my scientific career).

    Look at Hannibal: contemporary Romans believed that an old, declawed enemy did not deserve his fate. When Titus Quinctius Flamininus cornered him and drove to suicide, it was seen as the opposite of noble. It was not expected for a man of this scale to end his days in such a sorry fashion.

    Driving Marc Anthony to suicide took patience, persistence and serious spin doctoring from Octavian – Romans were long resisting the idea that a popular general and politician deserves to be hated, let alone dead.

    Greek politicians and warriors were routinely welcomed in Persia even after having fought Persia.

    Even Stalin did not murder Paulus for circus purposes in 1943.

    Major figures were not physically destroyed nor their possessions confiscated.

    Minor figures’ being dead or alive has always been irrelevant, on the other hand. And I am wondering: to what proportions has the game grown lately, if Hitler, Mussolini, Hussain and Kaddafi are considered minor these days.
