Morton’s Fork

A Morton’s fork is a choice between equally unpleasant alternatives. This is what has us voting for a candidate in elections, choosing between Coke and Pepsi, between Dodge and Ford, between LA Lakers and Chicago Bulls, between NBC and Fox.

OccupyWhatever suggest that we stay on the same see-saw, although on the other half for a change. It’s their reluctance to admit that there’s more to the world than this millenia-old see-saw that is most disturbing.

The smart way to keep people passive and obedient is to strictly limit the spectrum of acceptable opinion, but allow very lively debate within that spectrum – even encourage the more critical and dissident views. That gives people the sense that there’s free thinking going on, while all the time the presuppositions of the system are being reinforced by the limits put on the range of the debate. – source

And… political correctness is the enemy of truth.

Since we are quoting….I think there is only one choice…

“There is no means of avoiding the final collapse of a boom brought about by credit (debt) expansion. The alternative is only whether the crisis should come sooner as the result of a voluntary abandonment of further credit (debt) expansion, or later as a final and total catastrophe of the currency system involved.” – Ludwig von Mises

    Good post.

I see that “reluctance” so much in evidence over at the website of the Daily Telegraph. The number of people who believe passionately in “democracy” is depressingly large. Very, very few of those people will even consider its inherent flaws.

We must have democracy = we must have more of the same.

We are not a democracy. That is mob rule. We are a constitutional republic; which if everyone including our leaders actually were held accountable by the rule of law would be how the founders wanted it. But instead we have corruption in our laws and courts, ever corrupting the rule of law into something it is not nor ever should be.
